Description

SINODRILLS 3 Wings Full Flush Step Drag Bits

3 wings full flush step drag bits are one piece construction of alloy steel forged or cast with Tungsten Carbide cutting tips and gauge sides to ensure longer life.This step drag bits have 3 wings and 3 full flushing holes. Compare with air flushing, full flushing has bigger holes which are good at fushing. And it can preferably be beneficial to discharge mud, clay, sand and so on. The angle between each wing is 120 degree, distribute in the body of bit equably.Its each wing has 3 stairs, which can enhance bits penetration speed in the hole and increase bit torque.

Features of 3 Wings Full Flush Step Drag Bits

• A solid one piece heat treated, 4140 alloy steel body for bit strength & durability;

• CNC threaded machining for proper installation &use;

• Forgings are milled to better seat the carbide inserts.

• Select tungsten carbide inserts 5.5mm thick are standard.

•  Relief is hand ground behind carbide inserts for maximum performance.

3 Wings Full Flush Step Drag Bits

The 3 Wings Full Flush Step Drag Bit is a specialized drilling tool designed for efficient penetration in softer to medium-hard ground conditions. Its distinctive three-wing design and step-cut profile are optimized for effective material removal and borehole cleaning. This bit is commonly used in geotechnical investigations, water well drilling, and mining exploration where soft to moderately consolidated formations are encountered.

The robust construction of these drag bits typically involves high-quality steel alloys, ensuring longevity and resistance to abrasive wear. The manufacturing process often includes heat treatment to enhance the bit’s hardness and toughness, allowing it to withstand the rigors of drilling. The full flush capability is a key feature, enabling continuous removal of cuttings from the borehole, which significantly improves drilling efficiency and reduces the risk of bit clogging.

These bits are particularly well-suited for formations like clays, sands, shales, and some softer limestones. Their design minimizes the risk of deviation in such formations, providing a straighter borehole. The simplicity of their design also contributes to ease of maintenance and relatively lower manufacturing costs compared to more complex drill bit types.

3 Wings Full Flush Step Drag Bits: Features

The primary features of the 3 Wings Full Flush Step Drag Bit include its unique three-wing cutting structure and the integrated full flush system. The three wings are strategically positioned to provide efficient cutting action, shearing through the formation rather than crushing it. This results in faster penetration rates and less wear on the drilling rig.

The step-cut profile of the bit’s cutting edges is another significant feature. This design creates multiple cutting surfaces, allowing for more aggressive material removal with each rotation. The steps help to break up larger cuttings into smaller, more manageable pieces, facilitating their removal by the full flush.

Furthermore, the central bore and side ports for full flushing are crucial. Drilling fluid (often air or water) is directed through these channels, effectively lifting cuttings out of the borehole. This continuous flushing action prevents recirculation of cuttings, which can cause excessive wear on the bit and reduce drilling efficiency. The “full flush” implies an optimized flow path for maximum cleaning power.

3 Wings Full Flush Step Drag Bits: Benefits

The 3 Wings Full Flush Step Drag Bit offers several key benefits that contribute to enhanced drilling performance and cost-effectiveness. One significant benefit is its high rate of penetration in suitable formations. The aggressive cutting action of the three wings and step design allows for rapid advancement, reducing overall drilling time and associated operational costs. The additional wing compared to a two-wing bit often provides more stability and a smoother cutting action.

Another major benefit is improved borehole cleaning due to the integrated full flush system. Efficient removal of cuttings prevents bit balling and reduces torque and drag on the drill string. This not only extends the life of the drill bit but also minimizes wear and tear on drilling equipment, leading to lower maintenance expenses. The full flush design ensures maximum effectiveness in removing debris.

Moreover, the simplicity and durability of these bits translate into reduced downtime for bit changes and repairs. Their robust construction and effective self-cleaning mechanism ensure consistent performance, contributing to higher productivity and more predictable drilling operations. The cost-effectiveness of these bits, both in terms of initial purchase and operational lifespan, makes them a preferred choice for specific drilling applications.

3 Wings Full Flush Step Drag Bits: Uses

The 3 Wings Full Flush Step Drag Bit finds extensive use in a variety of drilling applications, primarily in softer geological formations. Its efficiency in unconsolidated and semi-consolidated ground makes it ideal for several specific tasks.

  • Water Well Drilling: These bits are frequently employed in drilling water wells in areas with soft soil, sand, clay, and gravel layers. Their ability to quickly penetrate these formations and effectively clear cuttings makes them highly suitable for establishing water sources. The full flush capability is particularly beneficial in preventing clogging in these materials.
  • Geotechnical Investigations: In geotechnical drilling, these bits are used to obtain samples and assess subsurface conditions in soft to medium-hard ground. They are valuable for site investigations, environmental sampling, and shallow exploration. The three-wing design can provide better stability for accurate sampling.
  • Mining Exploration: For exploration in coal, potash, and other soft mineral deposits, these drag bits provide an economical and efficient drilling solution. They are used for initial boreholes to determine the extent and quality of deposits.

These bits are particularly effective when paired with drill rigs capable of providing sufficient flushing media (whether air or water) pressure and volume for optimal performance. Their versatility in different soft rock and soil conditions makes them a valuable tool in the driller’s arsenal.
