R Thread Self Drilling Anchor Bars

R-thread self-drilling anchor bars are innovative hollow steel bars with a continuous “rope thread” design that perform drilling, grouting, and anchoring simultaneously. They feature a sacrificial drill bit, eliminating the need for separate drilling equipment and making them ideal for challenging ground conditions like loose soil or fractured rock. Grout is injected through the hollow core, stabilizing the borehole and ensuring effective load transfer.

Description

SINODRILLS R thread Self-Drilling Anchor Bars

Hollow anchor bar is the body of a self-drilling anchor, as a hollow steel tube with an outer round thread, hollow anchor has the sacrificial anchor bit connected at one side, plate and nut connected at the other; two hollow anchor bars could be connected together via a coupling, for duties that requiring longer anchors.

R thread Self-Drilling Anchor Bars Features

R-thread self-drilling anchor bars are innovative geotechnical components designed for simultaneous drilling, grouting, and anchoring in one efficient operation. Featuring a hollow, continuous “rope thread” design, typically conforming to ISO 10208 and ISO 1720 standards, these bars are exceptionally versatile for stabilizing various ground conditions, particularly unstable or fractured strata.

Key features include:

  • Integrated Drilling & Grouting: The hollow core allows for grout injection during or immediately after drilling, consolidating the surrounding ground and ensuring effective load transfer.
  • Sacrificial Drill Bit: A disposable drill bit at the end of the bar allows it to act as a drill steel, eliminating the need for separate drilling tools and procedures.
  • Continuous Rope Thread: Provides excellent bonding with grout and allows for easy coupling of bars to achieve desired lengths, even in confined spaces.
  • Versatile Drill Bit Selection: Compatible with various drill bit types (e.g., EX, EXX, ESF) to suit different soil and rock conditions.
  • High Strength and Durability: Often made from high-grade steel with options for corrosion protection (e.g., hot-dip galvanizing, epoxy coating) for long-term performance.
  • Adaptability: Ideal for challenging ground conditions like loose soil, fractured rock, and collapsing boreholes, where traditional anchoring methods might fail or be less efficient.

R thread Self-Drilling Anchor Bar Applications

R-thread self-drilling anchor bars are highly adaptable for various geotechnical and civil engineering challenges, particularly in difficult ground conditions where traditional drilling and anchoring methods are inefficient or impractical. Their ability to integrate drilling, grouting, and anchoring into a single process makes them a preferred solution for complex projects.

  • Slope Stabilization: Used extensively to reinforce unstable soil and rock slopes, preventing landslides and erosion. The simultaneous drilling and grouting stabilize fractured ground, enhancing the shear strength of the soil or rock mass and ensuring long-term stability for natural slopes, embankments, and cut slopes.
  • Tunneling and Mining: Crucial for pre-support and permanent support in tunnels and underground excavations. These bars quickly stabilize the face and crown of tunnels in challenging ground, minimizing the risk of collapses and ensuring worker safety. They are effective in fractured rock and loose ground, allowing for faster advance rates.
  • Micropile Foundations: Employed as micropiles to transfer structural loads to deeper, more competent strata, especially in areas with poor bearing capacity or restricted access. Their small diameter and self-drilling nature make them ideal for underpinning existing structures, reinforcing foundations, and for new construction on challenging sites.
  • Excavation Support and Retaining Walls: Provide critical support for deep excavations and retaining wall systems. By acting as temporary or permanent soil nails or rock bolts, they help to resist lateral earth pressures, prevent soil movement, and maintain the stability of excavation faces during construction in urban and challenging environments.
  • Hydrostatic Uplift Control: Used to counteract hydrostatic uplift pressures on structures in high groundwater conditions. By anchoring foundations or slabs to deeper, stable ground, R-thread bars prevent structures from floating or shifting due to groundwater, a common application in basements, dry docks, and structures below the water table.
